Agility Robotics

  • Humanoid
  • Logistics

Agility says Digit is built for cooperative safety near people.

Bipedal logistics robot. Agility describes the current Digit as engineered for cooperative safety and for working close to people. GXO has a multi-year commercial deployment and says Digit moves totes from mobile robots onto conveyors in a SPANX facility. Amazon has said it is testing Digit for empty-tote handling.

Apptronik says force control is meant to allow work around people.

General-purpose humanoid, about 5 ft 8 in and 160 lb, with a stated 55 lb lift. Apptronik says the force-control design is meant to operate around people more like a cobot than a caged industrial robot. Public programs include a Mercedes-Benz factory pilot and an early GXO lab proof of concept.

Prototype

Figure

  • Humanoid

The unveil does not cite a safety certificate or a customer site.

Figure's first humanoid, unveiled when the company left stealth in March 2023 and aimed at manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and retail. That announcement does not describe a safety certificate or a customer deployment. Public factory results since then refer to Figure 02 and Figure 03.

Factory pilot reported by BMW and Figure. No fenceless certificate cited.

Second-generation Figure humanoid used at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg for sheet-metal loading. BMW reported a multi-week trial in August 2024 and, in the same release, said no Figure robots were then on site. Figure later reported an 11-month run and said it was retiring this generation.

BMW says soft components are designed for enhanced safety.

Successor that Figure says replaces Figure 02. BMW says Figure 03 will begin sorting parts into sequencing trolleys at Spartanburg, and that the robot includes soft components designed for enhanced safety. Figure's product page also presents this generation for household tasks.

Boston Dynamics says detection enables fenceless guarding.

Electric humanoid Boston Dynamics is taking into factories. On the product post, the company says onboard detection of people and vehicles allows operation with fenceless guarding: Atlas pauses when a person enters a set radius, and the body uses padding and fewer pinch points. Hyundai says parts sequencing at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Savannah is planned to begin in 2028.

Boston Dynamics

  • Quadruped
  • Inspection

Stops for people nearby. Not sold as a power-and-force-limiting cobot.

Quadruped Boston Dynamics sells for inspection and sensing on sites people already use. The product page says collision avoidance keeps a set distance from stationary objects, and the company reports more than 1,500 robots in customer hands. In a Boston Dynamics webinar, staff say the default when a person or a forklift approaches is to stop and wait.

MR-1

In service

Mantis Robotics

  • Industrial arm

Mantis says MR-1 is certified to ISO 10218-1 and ISO 13849-1 to run without a cage.

Six-axis arm Mantis Robotics sells for shared workspaces. The company says MR-1 is certified to ISO 10218-1 and ISO 13849-1, carries a CE mark, and uses onboard range detection so it can run without a cage at speeds up to about 10 m/s. Stated size is a 5 kg payload and 900 mm reach. Treat "world's first" as Mantis's wording.

MR-X

Prototype

Mantis Robotics

  • Industrial arm

Mantis says no cage. The certification statement names MR-1, not MR-X.

Dual-arm robot Mantis unveiled at Automate 2026. The company says it lifts up to 70 lb, moves at up to 10.6 m/s, and is built to run without safety cages on the same safety core as MR-1. The certification announcement names MR-1, not MR-X, as the certified arm.

In service

Universal Robots

  • Cobot

Universal Robots says power and force limiting and monitored standstill are certified.

Collaborative arms Universal Robots says comply with ISO 10218-1 and the applicable parts of ISO/TS 15066. Safety functions can limit speed, momentum, force, and power. UR says the robots are certified for power and force limiting and monitored standstill, and that a fence can still be required once the tool and the part are in the risk assessment.

FANUC

  • Cobot

FANUC says the CRX line is certified to ISO 10218-1 with contact stop.

FANUC's collaborative robot series. The company says CRX robots are certified to ISO 10218-1 and ISO 13849-1, stop on light contact, can be pushed out of the way, and retract when they hit a hard object. Speed and safety settings are meant to be configured per application.

ABB

  • Cobot

ABB describes barrier-free cobot cells, and says some tasks still need a barrier.

ABB collaborative robot covered on the company's cobot pages. ABB says these robots support a barrier-free layout where people and robots work side by side, using power and force limiting, speed and separation monitoring, hand guiding, and a safety-rated stop. ABB also says Single Arm YuMi needs external sensors to react to a person, and that some applications should keep a physical barrier.

KUKA

  • Cobot

KUKA says torque sensing lets people and the arm share a task.

Sensitive seven-axis arm sold at 7 kg and 14 kg payloads. KUKA says joint torque sensors on every axis detect contact and cut force and speed immediately, and that safety fences give way to human-robot collaboration. Whether a given cell can actually drop the fence is still an application decision under ISO 10218.

Amazon Robotics

  • Mobile
  • Logistics

Amazon says Proteus navigates freely among employees, unlike caged drives.

Amazon's fully autonomous mobile robot for moving carts in fulfillment centers. Amazon says it uses sensors to travel outside the specialist-only zones used by earlier drives such as Titan and Hercules. Robotics 24/7 reported an Amazon engineer describing a speed-and-separation safety bubble and compliance with the R15.08 mobile-robot standard. Proteus is used inside Amazon, not sold as a catalog product.
